1. Who we are
This privacy policy explains how [Company legal name], trading as “Altus Trader”, registered in [country] under company number [number], with its registered office at [registered address] (“Altus Trader”, “we”, “us” or “our”), handles personal data. For the personal data described in this policy, we are the data controller.
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to [email protected].
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to visitors to this website, people who contact us or request a demo, and representatives of businesses that we work with or that are interested in licensing our software.
It does not cover the clients of brokers and other companies that use Altus Trader software. Those companies decide how their clients’ data is used and are responsible for it as data controllers. Where we access such data while providing support to a licensee, we do so only on that licensee’s instructions and under our licence agreement with them. If you trade with a broker that uses our software, please read that broker’s privacy policy and contact them about your data.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you use the demo request form or email us, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, company, work email address, the licence you are interested in, and the content of your message. If we go on to discuss a licence, we may also hold business contact details and correspondence with you.
How the demo request form works
The form is part of this website and is not run by an outside form service. When you send it, your message is saved in our website’s database and emailed to our team at [email protected], and we send a short confirmation to the email address you entered. The form does not save your IP address or browser details with your message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the website, our servers record technical information needed to deliver and secure it, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. We also use the cookies and browser storage described in section 5.
Spam protection
The form protects itself against automated spam with a hidden field and a check on how quickly it is sent. These checks run on our own server, use no third-party captcha service and do not track you.
4. How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and arrange demos. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries, or on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To discuss, provide and support our software for businesses that license it, as necessary for our contract with them and our legitimate business interests.
- To operate and secure the website, including preventing spam, abuse and attacks, based on our legitimate interest in keeping the website safe and available.
- To meet legal obligations, such as record keeping and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not sell or rent personal data.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We keep cookies to a minimum. The website does not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| kubecms-session | Essential cookie | Keeps the website working between page views, for example when a form is submitted | 2 hours |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Essential cookie | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | 2 hours |
| altus-theme | Browser storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark look | Until you clear it |
Essential cookies are needed for the website to work and do not require consent. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the website may then not work. If we ever add analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
6. Who we share information with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the website and our business, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Google Fonts, which serves the website’s typefaces, so your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google;
- [Hosting provider], which hosts this website, its database (including demo requests) and its server logs; and
- [Email provider], which hosts our email and sends the form notifications and confirmations.
We may also disclose information to professional advisers, to a buyer or successor if our business is reorganised or sold, or where the law requires it, for example in response to a court order or a request from a regulator or the police.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the country where you are located. Where data protection law requires it, we make sure such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.
8. How long we keep information
Demo requests saved through the website form are deleted automatically 365 days after they are sent. Copies in our email, and other correspondence, are kept for as long as we need them to respond to you and to manage any resulting business relationship, and then for [retention period] unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs are kept for [log retention period] for security purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
9. How we protect information
We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections, access controls and restricting access to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data;
- ask for your data in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, for us [supervisory authority], although we would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
11. Marketing
We may send occasional product news to business contacts who have asked for it or who have a business relationship with us, where the law allows. Every message includes a way to opt out, and you can also opt out by emailing us.
12. Children
This website and our software are intended for businesses and are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
13. Links to other websites
This website may link to websites run by others, such as app stores or service providers. Their privacy practices are their own responsibility, so please read their policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add new services to the website. The version on this page, with its “last updated” date, is the current one.
15. Contact
For any question about privacy or your personal data, contact [email protected].
